Weekly Questions for Team Building
I often begin my sessions in concentric circles, where we check in with each other. The inner and outer circle face each other, with the same amount of people in both. Begin by asking the first question and allow the dyad to chat for 2 minutes (so 1 min each). Shift the outer circle to the right by two people (or however many you want) and share the second question and so on. It’s a great way to build community and help teams build the social capital needed to connect and learn from each other. I only use the first three questions in a general staff meeting or facilitation session. The last two noted below are used as a set of five questions when working as a team.
•What brought you joy this week?
•What was hard this week?
•What’s a dream, desire or thought that’s been on the forefront of your mind this week?
•Is there anything left unsaid or any unresolved hurt?
•What’s one specific thing I can do for you this week?
